April 7th, 2025
It is with a very heavy heart that the Cedar Creek Public School Community mourns the loss of Mme Eleches, who passed away after a short illness on April 6. Mme Eleches was a well-loved teacher at our school and was known to our students and families for being a fun and caring teacher who brought a love of learning and joy to many of our students. Mme Eleches joined our school in 2009, where she taught French Immersion and Core French.
She was a dedicated supporter of the French Immersion Program throughout her years here. Her compassionate and caring manner could be felt in the classroom, the hallways and throughout the whole school. Mme Eleches will be greatly missed. In honour of Mme Eleches the flags at Cedar Creek PS and the Waterloo Region District School Board will be flown at half mast.
Social Workers from the Board’s Critical Events Response Team have been consulted and have been here providing support to our students and staff while at school, as this news was shared with them. We know this information will impact every child differently. Your child may have questions or may express thoughts and feelings about death. Children respond positively to direct and honest answers about grief and loss and they benefit from the opportunity to express their feelings. Here is a resource that can be helpful in guiding your conversations if needed.
If you have any concerns about your child, please reach out to their classroom teacher or the office for further support. The team of social workers will be in the building again tomorrow to support our school community.
On behalf of the students and staff at Cedar Creek PS we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family in their time of sorrow.
Sincerely,
Steph Morris
