Today, the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) recognizes Human Rights Day.

Human Rights Day

This important day is celebrated every year on December 10. Today is the day on which the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) Poverty Point of View (POV) Survey

This Human Rights Day, you can take action by participating in the Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) Poverty Point of View (POV) Survey.

Research has shown two issues that are deeply entwined with causing or sustaining poverty:

  • The lack of affordable, adequate and accessible housing
  • The experience of mental health and addiction disabilities

The Poverty POV survey will shine a brighter light on both areas and strengthen public understanding of poverty as a critical human rights issue.
